Vande Mataram and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans on India-Bangladesh border, video going viral

Anti-India activities have intensified in Bangladesh since the coup. There is a dispute between India and Bangladesh over the fencing of the border. Meanwhile, a video of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ being raised on the Indo-Bangladesh border has surfaced. Meanwhile, India on Monday summoned Bangladesh Acting High Commissioner Mohammad Nurul Islam to discuss India-Bangladesh related issues. He was seen coming out of South Block on Sunday afternoon. Earlier, Bangladesh had summoned Indian High Commissioner Prannya Verma in Dhaka on border-related issues. Summoning Nurul Islam is India’s answer.

Ever since Mohammad Yunus replaced Sheikh Hasina as the head of the interim government in Bangladesh, India’s concerns have grown. Trafficking of drugs and animals is seen every day. In August last year, a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed in retaliatory action by BSF personnel. In addition, Bangladeshis continue to come to India illegally, which is already a cause for concern. When Sheikh Hasina was in power, India’s borders were not so insecure.

Jai Shri Ram slogans on Bangladesh border
On the Indian side, the BSF was working on fencing last week. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladeshi citizens were continuously protesting against this, seeing which Indian citizens also started gathering. The situation became such that the Indian people started raising slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The video of this incident has gone viral on social media. The fencing work was stopped but resumed after India convinced the BGB.

According to the 1975 guidelines between India and Bangladesh, neither side can build any defensive structures within 150 yards of the Zero Line or the international border. Former Additional Director General SK Sood told The Indian Express that “India does not consider the barbed wire fence a defense structure, but Bangladesh and Pakistan do”. He was the Inspector General for more than three years. The international border between India and Bangladesh is very complex. It passes through villages and houses, making it difficult to fence it.
