Kolkata, January 17
A day before a Kolkata court delivered its verdict in the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, the parents of the victim and the deceased doctor today alleged that the investigation is incomplete as others involved in the crime are walking around in the open. The victim’s parents said they will continue to fight until justice is served for their daughter.
A female trainee doctor was found dead in this government hospital on August 9 last year. After that there was anger in the whole country. Swayamsevak Sanjay Roy, attached to the Kolkata Police, was named in connection with the crime and was arrested on August 10. The hearing of the case in the Additional District and Sessions Court of Sealdah was completed on January 9. A decision in this matter may come on Saturday.
Speaking to News-Patiala, the victim’s mother said, “Sanjay is guilty and tomorrow’s verdict will be against him, but what about the other criminals who have not been caught yet?” I can see them walking freely. I have seen them walking around the hospital. So the investigation is only half complete.” He also said that biological evidence has proved Roy guilty but he believes that the administration is shielding many other people involved in the crime. He said, “All the evidence was either lost or destroyed. When the then Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the spot, a large number of people were present there. It looked like a fish hawk. The people who were present at the scene should be punished.” The victim’s mother said, “I still don’t know why my daughter was killed in this way. What did he know that he was not allowed to live?
The victim’s father also claimed that the investigation is incomplete. “I don’t think Sanjay was alone,” he said while talking to News-Patiala. There will be other people who were absolutely involved in this crime but they are still free. Hope they will be arrested and their crime will be proved. Until then, justice will not be served. The victim’s parents said they have faith in the judiciary and will be present in the court when the verdict is delivered on Saturday. -News-Patiala
