Indian growth slower than expected: IMF

Washington, January 17

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today said that growth in India has been much slower than expected due to a slower-than-expected slowdown in industrial activity and is likely to remain at 6.5 per cent through 2026.

“Growth in India remained much slower than expected due to a larger-than-expected decline in industrial activity,” the IMF said in its latest World Economic Outlook report.

Accordingly, the global economy remains stable. It is worth noting that India’s growth rate was 8.2 percent in 2023, which decreased to 6.5 percent in 2024. -News-Patiala
