The Department of Women and Child Development of Delhi has started a campaign at the district level to identify the beneficiaries of the Ladli Yojana, who have not benefited from this scheme of the government. It may be mentioned that this campaign was launched on January 1, 2008 with the aim of empowering the girl child born in Delhi by providing financial support to them. Under this scheme, it is proposed to give 11,000 rupees for birth in a hospital, 10,000 rupees for birth at home and 5,000 rupees for admission in other important stages, classes 1st, 2nd, 6th, 9th and 10th. About 1.86 lakh people have not claimed the benefits under the Ladli Yojana, while 166 lakh have either not updated their application forms or have dropped out of school, an official of Women and Child Development said. The official said that to deal with this problem, the officials overseeing the Ladli scheme in 11 districts of Delhi have been asked to prepare an annual report. It will list all the beneficiaries and identify those who have not updated their applications. He said that the number of beneficiaries has increased in two years. -News-Patiala
