Bomb threat to Aligarh Muslim University, increased security

Security has been beefed up after Aligarh Muslim University received an email threatening to blow up the campus. Superintendent of Police (City) Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said that checking of all sensitive areas in and around the campus is going on after receiving an email from last evening to all top officials of the university, including the vice chancellor.

The official said that police and university officials are keeping strict vigil in all crowded areas including Maulana Azad Library. AMU spokesperson Asim Siddiqui told News-Patiala that the email letter also mentioned “ransom money”. University officials reported the matter to the police, who also activated the Cyber ​​Crime Cell to trace the origin of the mail ID from which the threat was issued. -News-Patiala
