A shocking report about condoms came out, WHO warned

Youth Abandoning Condoms: Condom is no longer a taboo word among us. Its use reduces the risk of deadly diseases like AIDS caused by unprotected sex. This is the reason why its use is being emphasized all over the world. Despite this, young people are avoiding using condoms. This has been revealed in a report by the World Health Organization (WHO). The report states that condom use among young people worldwide has declined, which is very alarming.

Low condom use among young people has been attributed to pornography or platforms like Onlifans or natural family planning. “Some boys are not using condoms because they don’t see them being used in porn videos,” says Sarah Pratt, a sexual health teacher at the Global Youth Organization (YMCA). Sarah Pratt says that ‘Lack of sex education is also the reason for youth’s declining interest in condoms.’ He says that young people should understand that they should use condoms to protect themselves from STIs (sexually transmitted infections).

Where did condom use decline the most?

Some time ago, the WHO conducted a survey in 42 countries in Europe and the Middle East. In it, 2,42,000 adolescents aged 15 years were asked questions about condoms. The survey found that the number of boys who used a condom the last time they had sex dropped from 70% in 2014 to 61% in 2022.

According to the report, girls are also no less in this. The number of girls who had previously used condoms or contraceptive pills decreased from 63% to 57%. They are also avoiding emergency contraceptive pills while having sex.

This WHO survey found that from 2014 to 2022, 26% of 15-year-old girls had taken contraceptive pills during their last sexual intercourse. 33% of adolescents from lower middle class families did not use condoms. Their number is up to 25% in upper class families. WHO has urged young people to use condoms while having sex to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
