A member of the Gounder gang was injured in the police encounter

A member of the Gounder gang was injured in a police encounter in Jamsher area here on Sunday morning. It may be mentioned that the accused Harpreet Singh alias Peda was in police custody. The police had taken him to recover the weapon. Meanwhile, Harpreet recovered a weapon and cleverly shot at the police officers and tried to run away. Harpreet was injured in the retaliatory action taken by the police.

Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said that Harpreet Singh was wanted in a case registered under the Arms Act in Bhargo camp last month. Harpreet was named as the main accused. Eight people have already been arrested in this case. He said that after a long search, the police arrested the accused Harpreet on January 15. Based on the investigation done from him, two other members of the gang, Yudhveer Singh and Karanpreet Singh, were arrested last night from here near the service road of Verka Milk Plant. The police have recovered two pistols, four cartridges and a car from them. Both of them admitted that they were given weapons by Harpreet. On Sunday morning, the police team took Harpreet to recover the weapon. Meanwhile, Harpreet opened fire on the police while recovering a weapon. He said that two pistols, magazines and 100 grams of heroin have been recovered from Harpreet. He said that many cases have been registered against Harpreet Singh.
