The Punjab Police has launched an investigation on Thursday following reports of an explosion outside the Bakhshiwal police post in Gurdaspur district. A team of forensic experts reached the spot to investigate the incident. When asked about the report of an explosion outside the police post, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurvinder Singh said, “We had received information, we have started an investigation. The FSL team will report and it will be clear what really happened.”
The DSP said there were some signs of a burnt patch outside the outpost, police said no one had heard the sound of the blast. The post has been closed for the past two weeks.
According to local people, an explosion was heard in the Islamabad police station around 3.15 am. At first, the Amritsar police had claimed that there was no explosion in the police station area. However, in an official statement in the evening, the Punjab Police said that Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav visited the city “in view of the attack” on the Islamabad police station and ordered strict action against the culprits. –News-Patiala
