Death of youth due to drug overdose

A youth belonging to a laborer family has died due to drug overdose in nearby village Jawaharke. The police of Thana City-1 Mansa have registered a case against a person. The police have handed over the body to the heirs after the post-mortem.
According to information, the dead body of Gurmeet Singh (19), a resident of Jawaharke village, was found in the village’s firni. Passers-by and villagers informed the youth’s family and the police. A syringe was also found from the dead body. In this regard, Gurnaib Singh, the father of the deceased, said that illegal drug trafficking is going on in the village. Many youths have died due to drugs in the village. They demanded strict action against drug traffickers.
Beant Kaur, head of police station City-1 Mansa, said that according to the family, Gurmeet Singh died due to drug addiction. Therefore, the police have registered a case against Jaspreet Singh after the family made allegations regarding the death of a young man.
It may be mentioned that a few days ago, a resolution was passed by the panchayat of Jawaharke against drug sellers in the village. According to this, action will be taken against the person who sells drugs in the village or helps drug smugglers.
