Punjab Police Cracks Down on Terrorist Activities
News Patiala: August 3, 2023:- The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of Punjab Police has arrested Spain-based Indian national Harjit Singh for terror funding and target killing in the state. Singh was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, for his involvement in a plan to execute religious leaders.
Police teams have also arrested Singh’s close associate Amarinder Singh alias Bunty from his native district Khanna.
The operation comes less than a week after the Punjab Police busted a target killing module, operated by foreign entities linked to the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), with the arrest of five members.
AIG S.S.O.C. SAS Nagar Ashwini Kapoor said that the investigation revealed that Harjit Singh was acting at the behest of some foreign-based extremists associated with the KLF and was using two fake Facebook accounts to promote extremist content including the activities of Sikhs for Justice.
Kapoor said that the Punjab Police is committed to making Punjab a safe state and will not tolerate any kind of terrorist activity.
