Canada:- Northern College Ontario has revoked its offer of admission for 503 students, many of whom are from India. The decision has left the students in limbo, as they are no longer able to legally enter Canada and have lost thousands of dollars in airfare.
The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) has called on Northern College to reconsider its decision, saying that it is “unfair and unjust” to the students. WSO President Tejinder Singh Sidhu said that the decision has “thrown the lives of these students into chaos.”
Northern College President Dr. Audrey Penner has said that the college could not place the students in its main campuses as it would have again exceeded capacity. She said that the college is committed to providing students with the “quality of educational experience they deserve.”
The students who have been affected by the decision are calling on Northern College to find a way to accommodate them. They say that they are willing to pay more for tuition or to take classes online.
The situation is a reminder of the risks that international students face when they come to Canada to study. Students should carefully research the colleges and universities they are considering, and they should make sure that they have a plan in case something goes wrong.
