Unique Identification Authority of India new schemes
As soon as the child is born in the country, the work of connecting him with Aadhaar is going on . It can be implemented across the country in the next few months. At present work is going on in 16 states of the country. In many places, Aadhaar number is also being given along with the birth certificate. Soon it will be implemented across the country.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a government agency. It issues Aadhaar number to every citizen of the country. It is expected that in the next few months, the process of giving the Aadhaar number along with the birth certificate of the child will also start across the country.
UIDAI is working in this regard
News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the government now aims to ensure that the Aadhaar number is issued along with the birth certificate at the time of birth. UIDAI is working with the Registrar General of India in this regard. This process requires a computerized system of birth registration and states that had full computerization have on-boarded it.
A message is sent to the UIDAI system whenever a birth certificate is issued in 16 states, sources said. After this Enrollment ID number is generated. As soon as details like child’s photograph and address are entered in the system. Aadhaar number is generated.
Please note that currently no biometrics are taken for children up to 5 years of age. Later when the child crosses the age of 5 to 15 years he has to link the identification information like biometrics (fingerprint) and iris with the Aadhaar number.
Aadhaar number is used in government schemes
More than thousands of state and central government schemes still use Aadhaar card for identification and authentication of beneficiaries. About 650 of these schemes are run by the state governments and 315 by the central government. All these schemes use Aadhaar and its biometric authentication.
The important thing is that 134 crore Aadhaar numbers have been issued in the country so far. About 200 million updates and enrollment numbers were added to this 12-digit biometric identifier last year. Of these, 4 crore were new recruits. Of these, 3 million were related to new adult admissions.
