Former industries minister Sunder Sham Arora has been arrested by the Vigilance.
News Patiala, October 16, 2022: Arora, recently joined the BJP from the Congress. The former Punjab Anand Lamps Limited (Philips) was under suspicion for alleged irregularities in the transfer and allotment of 25 acres of land in Phase IX of Mohali. According to the preliminary investigation of vigilance, the government exchequer has suffered a loss of around 600 crore rupees due to these irregularities.
The Vigilance Bureau Punjab has arrested former minister Sundar Sham Arora. Allegedly offering a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the bureau.
Giving information, Virender Kumar, Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau Punjab, said that on the statements of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Manmohan Kumar, FIR No. 19, dated 10-15, was filed against the former minister under section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. 2022 has been registered.
It may be mentioned that the former minister was questioned in the Punjab Vigilance Bhavan on Wednesday.
In this regard, Chief Director of Punjab Vigilance Bureau will address the press conference at Vigilance Bhawan in a few minutes.
