MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli raises issue of physical college in Assembly |
News Patiala: During the question and answer session during the budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
The issue of closure of Gursewak Singh Physical College was raised loudly. The issue was raised by Patiala Urban MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli.
Asked about the closure of the college, Ajitpal Singh Kohli said that it was the No. 1 college in North India.
It covers an area of about 25 acres and is a college with the look of a heritage building right in the middle of the city. The college has 12 professors, 2 clerks, 7 grade four staff and 1 librarian.
MLA Kohli said that these staff members have been shifted to other colleges. He also questioned why Maharaja Bhupindera Sports University had to be set up in Patiala when the Physical College, NIS was already set up.
He also raised the issue of whether the staff would be shifted there once the university is fully established here. In reply, the concerned Cabinet Minister said that it would be difficult to say anything about the compulsion of the previous governments.
However, in case of shifting of staff, information would be obtained from the concerned department as to whether if a college of this sports university would be set up in time, it would be possible to shift the staff in it on priority basis or not.
It may be mentioned here that since the session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha has been going on, the issues related to Patiala city have been continuously raised by MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli so that these issues could be taken up with the government.
