Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed that the Class 12 student arrested recently for sending bomb threats to schools in the city is associated with an NGO that supports a political party. A police officer said that during the investigation, they also learned that the NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) had supported Afzal Guru, accused of the attack on Parliament.
Addressing a press conference at the police headquarters here, Delhi Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Madhup Tiwari said,
“We were tracking emails and it was difficult to trace their origin (find the source) because of a virtual private network (VPN). We also had to find out if there was any terrorist angle in it.” He said that the service providers were not able to help the police due to the use of VPN.
He said, “Our teams traced the minor on January 8 following recent emails. As the sender of the e-mail was a minor, the team seized his laptop and mobile phone for forensic examination.”
Police teams have tracked 400 threatening emails sent by minors. They also checked the background of her father, who is working with an NGO, and found that the organization was part of a civil society group raising the issue of Afzal Guru’s hanging and a political party. is also helping.
