The President of the country, Draupadi Murmu, has refused to meet the leaders of the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) today, citing lack of time.
It may be mentioned that the leaders of SKM had written a letter to the President and sought time to meet them to resolve various issues related to farmers and workers. However, the SKM leaders have expressed regret that the President did not give time to meet the farmers, but also appreciated the President for considering their demand and giving a written reply. The leaders of SKM expressed hope that Rashtrapati Bhavan will reconsider the demand regarding giving time to meet the farmers. It may be mentioned that farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on fast to death for 41 days at the Dhabi Gujran border in Patiala due to the demands of farmers and workers, whose health is continuously deteriorating.
