CBSE Board Exam 2026 Dress Code Guidelines

The Central Board of Secondary Education has clarified that regular students should wear only their school uniform in the examination centre. They should also carry their school ID card. Private CBSE candidates are advised to wear plain, light colored clothes. Clothing with bright colors or heavy embroidery may be considered suspect.

Strict rules for female students

It is best to leave your fashion-style at home during CBSE Board Exam 2026. Board guidelines for women students are quite strict:

Jewelry of any kind, such as earrings, nose pins, chains, or bracelets, is prohibited.

Don’t wear big, flashy clips or fancy hair bands.

Wear flat sandals or slippers instead of shoes. Entry will be refused if you wear high heels.

Guidelines for students

Students are advised to wear half-sleeve shirts or t-shirts instead of full-sleeves during CBSE Board Exam 2026. However, it may vary depending on the season.

Avoid wearing clothes with big or fancy buttons.

Cargo pants with multiple pockets or jackets with zippers are strictly prohibited.

To enter a CBSE Board Exam Center you only need to have the following:

Only original copy of your admit card and ID will be valid.

Keep only transparent pouches for pens, pencils and erasers.

The bottle should also be completely transparent.

Only analog watches can be worn.

List of Prohibited Items in CBSE Exam

Mobile phones, calculators, Bluetooth, earphones, digital watches, and purses/wallets are strictly prohibited inside the CBSE Board Examination Centre. Additionally, carrying any written materials or chits can lead to a case of “unfairness-of-honours” (UFM), potentially ruining your year. Remember, the gates to the center close at 10am, so aim to arrive by 9:30am.
