Dharmendra was born on 8 December 1935 in a small village Nasreeli in Punjab. He has had a deep love for films since childhood. He was fascinated by the world of cinema and dreamed of being a part of it one day.
She won the National New Talent Contest organized by Filmfare, which gave her the confidence to take a bold step. Soon after this, he reached Mumbai (then Bombay) to try his luck in films.
Dharmendra started his film career in the year 1960 with ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. In this film, she shared the screen with Balraj Sahni, Kumkum and Usha Kiran.
Dharmendra’s first salary still surprises many fans. He got a total of only Rs 51 for his first film. This amount was given by three filmmakers together. Each producer gave him Rs 17.
When Dharmendra received the fee for his first film, he celebrated like anyone would. He reached a roadside dhaba and had a party for his friends.
After this Dharmendra never looked back. He worked in classic films like ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Sita Aur Geeta’ and ‘Sholay’ and within no time he achieved superstar status.
Dharmendra is still active in films even after more than 6 decades. According to reports, he had charged Rs 1 crore for his role in Karan Johar’s film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’.
Now Dharmendra will be seen in ‘Ikkis’, which is a war drama film. In this, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda has played the lead role. Jaideep Ahlawat is also an important part of the film. The director of the film is Sriram Raghavan and this film is going to be released in December this year.
