NEET UG 2026 is an important exam for students preparing for a career in the medical field. This exam provides admission to various medical courses including MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Nursing. The NEET exam is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and lakhs of students from across the country participate in it.

When will the exam be held?

The NEET UG 2026 exam is expected to be held on the first Sunday of May 2026. However, the official date will be announced by NTA later. The exam will be conducted offline, ie, in a pen-and-paper format, and the timing of the exam will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Exam pattern

NEET UG 2026 will have a total of 180 questions. These will consist of 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry and 90 questions from Biology. The exam will carry a total of 720 marks. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks, and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Eligibility for NEET UG 2026

To appear in NEET UG 2026, candidates must have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Minimum 50 percent marks for general category students, while minimum 40 percent marks for SC, ST, and OBC candidates. Also, the minimum age to appear in the exam is 17 years, though there is no upper age limit.

How much will be the application fee?

After filling the application form, candidates have to pay the fee online. The application fee is ₹1700 for general category, ₹1600 for OBC and EWS, and ₹1000 for SC and ST categories.

How to apply?

  • First, visit the official website of NEET, neet.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the “NEET UG 2026 Registration” link on the homepage.
  • Fill in the required information, such as name, mobile number, and email ID, and create a password.
  • Complete the registration by entering the OTP received on your mobile and email.
  • Now login with your application number and password.
  • Fill in your personal details, study details, exam language and exam city.
  • Upload required documents.
  • Pay the application fee online.
  • Recheck all information before submitting the form.
  • Download the confirmation page and save it for future reference.
