X’s new way to increase earnings, now it will sell username, knowing the price you will say – we do not want it

Company X (formerly Twitter), owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, has found a new way of earning. Now the company will earn money by selling inactive handles. The company is now bringing Handle Marketplace, where users will be able to buy inactive usernames. Currently it will be available only for Premium Plus and Premium Business subscribers. This means that users using X for free will not be able to purchase a username.

Usernames kept in two categories

X has divided inactive usernames into two categories – priority and rare. Such usernames will be kept in the priority category, which contain the full name or phrases consisting of several words. Eligible subscribers can buy these without paying any money. This means that users will not have to pay any money to buy a simple username. The real money game will start in the rare category. To buy rare category username, people will have to empty their pockets and pay lakhs. To buy a rare category username, you may have to pay Rs 2 to 8 lakh.

Username will remain as long as you are a paid user

After purchasing a new username, your old username will be free and you will be able to use the new username. It is important to keep in mind that once a username is purchased, it will not remain with the concerned user forever. This feature will work like an ongoing paid service. That means, as long as you have the premium plan of X, this username will remain yours. From the day you start using X for free, this username will go away from you and X will restore your old username. This feature of the company is being considered as a way to increase the subscription revenue of X and to make the premium subscription more attractive.
