OpenAI launches a lightweight version of its free Deep Research tool for all ChatGPT users

Openai has launched a light and free version of its famous Deep Research Tool, which can now be used by all the users of Chatgpt, whether it is free or plus, team, pro. The company said that this lightweight version is based on the O4-Mini model and it has been prepared in such a way that it should use less resources and more users can get access.

What is Deep Research Tool?

Openai launched the Deep Research Tool earlier this year. This tool is specially designed to do research on the Internet, collect information and prepare the report by understanding it well. While the GPT-4O is for fast conversation, Deep Research is for the works that require more thinking and fact checking.

If users ask a subject such as product comparison or market overview, this tool searches on the Internet, collects information and prepares a systematic report. The entire process takes some time for about 5 to 30 minutes, but in this the user also gets information about research steps and sources used.

What can it do a light version?

A new lightweight version can also search and research on the Internet, but its capabilities are a bit limited. However, Openai says that this version is also very intelligent and gives good output at low cost. The answers to this version will be slightly small, but will be full of information.

How to use?

Go to the message composer in Chatgpt and select ‘Deep Research’ and type your question. If you want, you can also upload a file (such as PDF or spreadsheet) to give extra information.

Openai is going to add features like charts and data visualization in it later, which will make the reports even easier.

How much can you use?

Openai has also set a monthly limit for Deep Research:

– Free Users – Can use Deep Research 5 times a month
– Plus, Team, Enterprise and Education Users – 25 times a month
– Pro users – 250 times a month

If the users complete their limit, the system will automatically switch to a light version, so that the research work does not stop. Education and Enterprise users will start getting mild version facility from next week. This step of Openai is considered a major step towards making the research tool more accessible and user-friendly.
