The high-powered committee formed by the Supreme Court under the leadership of former judge Justice Naib Singh reached the Gujran border in Dubai. The committee will first inquire about the condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a death fast, and then hold a meeting with the farmer leaders. Headed by retired High Court judge Justice Nawab Singh, the committee includes former DGP BS Sandhu, economist RS Ghuman, agriculture expert Davinder Sharma and Chairman Punjab Kisan Commission Sukhpal Singh.
On this occasion, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, Patiala DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav and SSP Dr. Other officials including Nanak Singh are also present.
Earlier this meeting called in Panchkula was boycotted by the farmer leaders. It is worth mentioning that yesterday, former DIG Narendra Bhargava and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh had come to pave the way for the talks of this committee with the farmers’ leaders.
