Mumbai, January 22
Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened on an upbeat note on Wednesday due to buying in index heavyweights Infosys and HDFC Bank amid mixed sentiment in the commodity markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading up 366.49 points or 0.48 per cent at 76,204.85 at the opening of the market.
The NSE Nifty rose 80.60 points, or 0.35 percent, to 23,105.25. Among the Sensex pack, Infosys, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Tata Consultancy Services, ITC, ICICI Bank, Titan, Tech Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance advanced. Zomato, Tata Motors, PowerGrid, IndusInd Bank, State Bank of India, Tata Steel and Adani Ports were the major laggards. –News-Patiala
