Sarbjot Singh, son of Dhin village of Ambala, who won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympic Games 2024 and brightened the name of the country and the state, has been honored with the Arjuna Award. The award was presented by President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

As soon as the people of the village came to know about this, they jumped up with joy. Sarbjot’s family had gone to Delhi with him to receive this award. Sarbjot Singh belongs to a farmer family.

Sarbjot Singh’s father said, “This is a matter of pride for our family and the entire village. Our son Sarbjot Singh has made the name of the village and the district bright in the whole country.” Sarbjot Singh said, “It is the greatest honor of my life, with which the name of Ambala has been made bright on the international stage.

It may be mentioned that Sarbjot Singh has not only made India famous on the international stage with his outstanding performance in shooting, but has also set an example for the youth with his dedication and hard work. The Arjuna Award, a prestigious honor in the Indian sports world, is given to recognize the extraordinary achievements of sportspersons. This honor for Sarbjot is the result of his hard work and dedication.

Sarbjot Singh said, “All this is the result of the contribution of family, coaches and supporters. This award will motivate me to perform better in the future.” He said that last year on July 30, 2024 in Paris Olympics, he along with Haryana’s Khel Ratna awardee Manu Bhakar won the 10m air pistol mixed team. Represented India in the competition. In this competition, they won the bronze medal for India by defeating a strong Korean team.

Sarbjot Singh started participating in shooting competitions from 2017 and since then he has consistently excelled. He has won 9 gold medals. Sarbjot Singh’s success proved that big dreams can be seen even from small villages.
