180 cameras installed across Punjab; Orders for surveillance of revenue offices through cameras given to DCs across the state

Punjab News: Taking a major decision to ensure transparency in revenue offices and for the convenience of people, Punjab Government has installed CCTV cameras in Sub Registrar/Giant Sub Registrar Offices.
According to an information, 180 cameras have been installed in these offices across Punjab. Deputy Commissioners across the state have been asked to make every camera operational.
Additional Chief Secretary Revenue Anurag Verma has written to all the Deputy Commissioners of the state asking them to report on the current status of the cameras by January 31. According to the information received, senior officials at the headquarters will also monitor the CCTV cameras themselves.
Through the letter, Deputy Commissioners have been ordered to conduct surprise checks through live footage of CCTV cameras. The Deputy Commissioner will be able to inspect and check the revenue offices through these cameras whenever he wants.
