Due to the ‘Punjab Bandh’ conducted by the farmers’ organizations of Punjab over the legal guarantee of MSP and other demands of farmers and workers, the state government has suffered a loss of Rs 90 to 100 crores. Due to the closure of Punjab, the road and rail traffic in the state was completely stopped from 7 am to 4 pm on Monday. Meanwhile, all markets, petrol pumps, vegetable markets and other commercial areas of the state remained completely closed. Meanwhile, the business of the state has also been affected on a large scale, due to which transactions worth thousands of crores of rupees have stopped. Due to ‘Punjab Bandh’, the Punjab government has lost 90 to 100 crores of income in the form of taxes.
According to the information, the Punjab government gets a large amount of income in the form of taxes from the sale of petrol and diesel on a daily basis. The state government has suffered a loss of 35 to 40 crore rupees due to road traffic being stopped for 9 hours on the previous day. According to information, the Punjab government earns 18-20 crore rupees daily from petrol and the same amount from diesel. On the other hand, the income of 50 to 55 crore rupees from other sources in the form of GST to the state government has also come to a standstill. Thus, the Punjab government has suffered a financial loss of Rs 90 to 100 crore due to the call for ‘Punjab Bandh’ on December 30. Meanwhile, a large number of businessmen of Punjab have also suffered financial loss.
It is worth mentioning that the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been holding a protest since February 13 on the borders of Punjab and Haryana on the borders of Khanuri and Shambhu regarding the legal guarantee of MSP and other farmers’ demands. Meanwhile, on one side, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is sitting on a hunger strike due to the central government’s failure to listen to the farmers, whose health is continuously deteriorating. On the other hand, farmers’ organizations had called for a Punjab Bandh on December 30. Meanwhile, farmers’ leaders have reached different markets and closed the shops, markets and mandis. That is why Punjab has been completely shut down in the state from 7 am to 4 pm. Meanwhile, the people of Punjab were in trouble on the roads, at the same time, a large number of businessmen of Punjab, including the Punjab government, have also faced financial loss.
