Patiala, Punjab (August 8, 2023) – Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University Patiala (JGND PSOU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Young Progressive Sikh Forum (YPSF) to provide free education to needy students.
The MoU was signed by JGND PSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjit Singh and YPSF President Prabhleen Singh in the presence of Patiala Urban MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Dr. Daman Sandhu, Punjabi University Patiala, Prof. Manjit Singh, Registrar, and Prof. Gurdeep Singh Batra, Dean Academic Affairs.
Under the MoU, JGND PSOU will provide free education to a maximum of 100 students per academic session who meet the following criteria:
- Annual family income less than Rs. 2.5 lakh
- Differently abled learners
- Dependents of divorced mothers
- Families affected by natural calamities
- Students who have lost earning members of the family
Prof. Karamjit Singh said that the MoU is a step towards providing quality education to all sections of society, especially the needy and economically weak students. He added that JGND PSOU is committed to providing affordable and accessible education to all.
MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli said that the MoU is a welcome initiative and will benefit a large number of students. He urged other organizations to come forward and support the cause of education.
Dr. Prabhleen Singh said that YPSF has been working for the welfare of needy and orphan children for many years. He added that the MoU with JGND PSOU will help them to provide free education to more students.
The MoU is a significant step towards providing quality education to all sections of society. It is hoped that more such initiatives will be taken in the future to make education more accessible and affordable for all.
