Sangrur, June 17, 2022: Additional District Magistrate Sangrur S. Anmol Singh Dhaliwal exercising the powers vested in him under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 within the limits of Sangrur District from 6 pm on June 21 till the end of the voting process on Election Day 23 June and counting day on 26 June. Declaring it a dry day, orders have been issued to close liquor contracts and ban liquor from being stored by individuals.
The order will also apply in full to hotels, restaurants, clubs, and liquor premises where the sale and consumption of liquor are legally permitted. The orders said that as per the letter issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, the Lok Sabha by-election was being held on June 23 and it was important to maintain law and order during the election process.
