Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans said that guidelines laid by Punjab Chief Minister S. Charanjit Singh Channi on ‘Mission Clean’ would be strictly followed in Patiala and no one would be allowed to be indulged in corrupt practices such as illegal trade of mining and smuggling of drugs.
He said that the agenda set by the Punjab Chief Minister is very much clear and has been conveyed to all the officials working in the district to follow it in principle. He said that all officers have been told to be extra vigilant on complaints of harassment of the general public who visit government offices, by the office employees or toughts.
Similarly, to cap the prices of sand and gravel, no one would be allowed to charge more than the rates notified by the state for these goods. He said that from now onwards, sand would be available at Rs 9 per cubic foot while gravel at Rs 12 per cubic foot besides reasonable transportation charges. Panchayats will be exempted from earth mining for using it in development works, added the deputy commissioner.
Apart from that, in wake of festive season, the shopkeepers and venders would be facilitated instead of harassing them in the name of one and another pretext, said Mr Hans by adding that all the officers have been sounded about the instructions given by the Chief Minister S. Charanjit Singh Channi.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the mining officials have been directed to keep a close watch on illegal mining and to ensure that the rates notified by the Chief Minister would not be violated at any cost. He said that as per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister, Patiala administration is committed to facilitate the people and to curb the illegal activities related to mining and drugs.
Meanwhile, SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar said that as per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Patiala Police would not allow any illegal activity in the district and in coordination with district administration, it would be made sure to facilitate the shopkeepers as well as the residents to feel free to enjoy the festival joys without facing any problem. He said that the police would ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic in the cities and towns and safety of the people so that they can enjoy the warmth of the festival.
